One Step Closer

Okay, I cannot believe the speed with which this has happened but I got an email from Anna this morning telling me she really liked my full ms! Woohoo!!! Excuse the exclamation marks but, y’know, I’m quite pleased about it. She was very impressed that I’d taken on board their suggestions, that hero and heroine were characters in their own right and not just the way they were to serve the plot (note to self, conflict driven not setup driven!), oh yes and she liked the ending.

Anyway, there are some revisions I need to do concerning the pace, the motivation and the conflict – not much then! – which she and Jenny will forward to me at the beginning of February. Argh! Can’t wait to get my teeth into it though. I knew after I’d sent it that more work was needed and I’m just so pleased they going to give me the opportunity.

So, I am officially not stressing about it – until revision time! πŸ™‚

  1. Yay! I’d have used WAY more !!!!!

That’s fantastic news. Now I’m gonna look a right loser when they reject mine πŸ™‚ Yep… not feeling all that positive at this stage. Just need a few more hours, then I’ll have finished my self-imposed revisions. Will let it sit then send off next Friday.

Hope I get put out of my misery as quickly as you do.

  2. Thanks Rach! You sound like me ‘no, it’s going to be an outright rejection for sure’. πŸ™‚ Doubts are natural at this stage but I reckon they’ll love yours – you may be snapped up instantly like Lucy!
Am hoping for a quick reply for you – I’m sure they will get right on it.
They haven’t put your chapter up after all so maybe they’re holding back until you sell??

  3. Jackie, I said it on eHar, but I wanted to tell you again…I’m so excited for your good news! February isn’t far away and you’ll be buried deep. πŸ™‚ Congrats!

  4. Thanks so much Steph! Part of me can’t wait till Feb but the other part is going ‘noooooo!’. Oh well, no one said it was going to be easy.

  5. Hooray!!! That’s GREAT! Revisions? You’ll sail through them! Hope the next couple of weeks are lovely and relaxing πŸ™‚

  6. Thanks Suzanne and thanks for your confidence Lucy! I guess whether I sail through them depends how big the revisions are – I’m thinking they’ll be big.
But hey, can’t do anything about that yet so yep, am going to be trying to relax until I get them.

Another note to self – must not pull apart my ms UNTIL I hear from Anna. πŸ˜‰

  7. Jackie,

Congratulations, that’s simply wonderful news. To know you work so hard and to see it pay off must be the best feeling in the world.
I suspect Lucy won’t wear the hat of the newest Modern Heat writer for long…but I’m sure she’ll be pleased to hand it over now that she’s secured her place with Mills & Boon.

  8. Thanks Aideen and Lorraine. I did work hard on this ms – Anna told me I should be proud of it which is a lovely, lovely thing to say.

But still work to do on it. Luckily, I totally expected that to be the case. I’m just hoping I can manage the revisions the way they want.

I’m relaxing, Lorraine! Furiously relaxing. πŸ™‚
