Pants!

You know that 13k? Best. Deletion. Ever. Yes, indeed, sometimes starting the whole thing again is the best thing to do. Because now I am at 25k and thinking it’s not total pants. Okay, so that’s a lie, it IS pants, just not saggy, baggy, smelly, held-up-with-string pants. More like dodgy tracksuit pants. Or gold, sparkly MC Hammer Pants. Yep, I think I’ll go with the MC Hammer Pants ms, because hey, there is the requisite touch of luxury in that it is set in a VERY nice hotel. That’s probably the only good thing about it in many ways but you’ll all be pleased to know that I am not going back and editing. I am doubting nearly everything about it but I shall press on. At least the tone is right and the conflict is okay. Probably. Maybe. Who knows?

What I do know is that after Nano is over, I shall be left with a pair of gold MC Hammer pants that I will need to tailor into a Chanel couture ball gown. Which is easy right?

  1. Jackie, love, there is enough material in those pants to make three couture gowns!!

    But good for you – just ploughing through it and giving yourself permission to edit later is wonderful news. Not NaNoing myself but I had a bit of a “aha” moment and I had to go back and insert another layer to the plot and I think it’s going to work out well *she says with everything crossed*.

    So here’s to our “You Can’t Touch This” editing approach *raises champers glass*. May it result in happy us-es and brilliant mss!

  2. Yay Jackie! Good going! Am delighted that its working out well… I did NO WRITING yesterday (gasp) and my nano is small and glittery, rather like Kylie hotpants. Will have to try and get them to her knees today, rather than just covering her…

    Sally – at least Kylie hotpants are sexy. MC Hammer pants are not. Lol! Good luck with lengthening them! 🙂

    Romy – I think I’d rather have tracksuit pants that Hammer pants. At least tracksuit pants mean business. 🙂 Good for you. Yep, keep going!

    I’m not doing NaNo but I’m making good progress today, hence the blog visiting. LOL

    I go slow and edit as I go too, so I don’t have pants but maybe the hem of a nice ballgown so far. 🙂

  6. YOWSER. It’s def HAMMER TIME. Okay, so I’m totally digging the pants and I didn’t even have to read your blog – I instantly had “U Can’t Touch This” playing in my head. Now I’ll be humming it all day at work.

  9. Not NaNo-ing per se. And it truly BETTER not be total pants at this point. It’s sort of a Wal-Mart bargain prom dress and I need to make it a little more…Carolina Herrera.

  12. Maisey – elastic waist band?? Ye Gods!! Well, mine started out as sexy skinny jeans, morphed into baggy trackies, and then again into Hammer pants. Trying to regain the sexy skinnies at the moment. 🙂

  16. Hammer pants is a cracking start…. My current one is just a waistband so far! In fact it’s two waistbands looking for at least one pair of leggings! Confused? Tell me about it. For the first time ever in my existence I had two ideas at once and I don’t know which one to go for.
